(By Tom Lohnes) – Have you ever wanted an old VW Type 2 Pickup, except modernized and with 600 electric horses? Now you do.
Meet the Canoo Electric Pickup, yet another upstart in the EV truck segment. Unlike the others, the Canoo takes utility to the max. Offering a claimed 400 miles of range, the Canoo is strictly a 2-seat vehicle, reserving all other space for bed area. In said bed lies a whole 8 feet of storage space, and drawers that pull out of the sides for extra storage. Looks wise, it’s not great, but hop inside and you’ll find more space than you’ll ever need.
So, is this 600-hp, 400-mile, cab-over looking pickup truck the one for you. Pricing hasn’t been announced, but it will probably be near the base model Tesla Cybertruck’s $35,000 starting price, rather than the costly GMC Hummer EV’s $80,000.
As ugly as it is, it’s still a hundred times better looking than the Tesla.
I kind of like it . Actually make a van out of it and it could be the next safari / astro replacement
400 miles of range….means either its all marketing hype or the bed is extremely shallow to provide space for batteries.
It’s interesting looking, but didn’t Chevy get griped at years ago for wasted space in the cockpit years ago with the Lumina APV?
I wonder how easy it will be to reach the inside of the windshield first thing on a cold morning, too.
This looks like one of the 90’s GM Dustbuster minivans mated with a Toyota Tundra. Nasty.
I can live with the appearance and general spacy styling but why do I feel like there are wheelarches where my feet go, and the visibility out the front will be terrible with all the pillars? And just leave round steering wheels in cars too.
What is the tow and load capacities?
If the bed is 8′ the cab must be 10′ long!! I kinda like it though.
