Some of the tractor loving populace out there will hate this video. Why? Well in their eyes all these old machines have been somewhat defiled by having their tried and true original engine swapped out for gasoline burning V8s. While many of the engines here are small block Chevrolets, you’ll see some vintage Ford stuff shown as well as a Holden V8 (see if you can spot it). Why do people do this stuff? For the same reason people built hot rod cars and trucks, it’s fun! While there may not be a lot of “sense” in having a small block Chevy powered Ferguson, there’s a lot of satisfaction in making the thing and having fun with it, right? Just seeing some of the speed these tractors make has us laughing. Danger? Meh, c’amon man.
The wackiest creation in the video is a little Massey-Ferguson garden tractor that has stacks and a small block Chevy. This snippet gives you a taste of that madness that is that machine. We’ll give you the whole glimpse of it tomorrow. It’s truly one that will curl your toes, we promise.
Laugh if you want, but in my book these are as hot roddy as any car out there. They require imagination, fabrication, thought, and they increase the power and potential of the original vehicle. How is that not a hot rod? Hell, even if you don’t like tractors, you virtually have to love these things just for the sound. Even the little flatheads are barking up the right tree!
back in the day put a 327 chevy in a 1947 Massey Harris 101 jr it was terrifying to drive.
