Sometimes it’s about having fun, right? When you flip on the tube or click on a YouTube link, you want to be entertained. This is one of the best examples of the magic of Brock Yates and Steve Evans on TV in the 1980s. The guys were down covering a monster truck race at the Houston Astrodome. This was still early in the era of monster truck racing so the side by side action was kind of freakish. The guys decided to open up the show with a funny skit featuring Steve “Easy Evans” and his used car lot which was unfortunately located on the floor of the Houston Astrodome…where the trucks were racing.
You’ll see Evans go over the condemned cars and then the reaction of them being destroyed is funny as well. Look, there’s some sadness here because of the cool iron getting hammered but we love the way that these guys played this deal. It made it fun to watch and certainly put a smile on our face seeing it again, here.
We may get accused of getting nostalgia heavy around here at times but look, if you can watch this and not crack a smile there are bigger problems. Sorry about the cars getting smooshed but if there’s a bright side, it’s that 30+ years later, this is still awesome. They didn’t go in vain.
