This rules. A fun pre-Christmas gift for all of us who have been following the build of the Buick straight eight that Davin and the Hagerty crew have been on for some time now. This project has been a hard one. There were issues from the beginning, some missteps, some changes, and some delays. In short…it was REAL. It was the kind of stuff that happens to real people all the time and we dig the fact that they covered all of it with the end goal of making the film you will see below. The payoff is the fire up and run at the end and this thing sounds awesome. For real, it has a nice hum to it as it was idling around 2,000 to get the camshaft broken in.
We’d love to see this engine on the dyno just to compare it to the factory stock numbers. It won’t be huge gains but consider the fact that this thing has custom pistons, a better camshaft, larger valves, and the dual carb intake combined with a tube header and there’s no doubt in our mind that it’s making way better than stock power. It would just be neat to see how much more than stock it was actually making.
While we’re a little bummed this project is seemingly over, we’re excited to see what the next engine will be in the series!
That is the perfect way to start the week, was looking forward to hearing that lump o’ steel run. Be nice to see it back between the frame rails.
