Job Done: Check Out This Second And Final Part Of The Big Compressor Restoration

Here’s the second and final part of the big compressor restoration we started to show you yesterday. Talk about awesome, this machine really is interesting. This video concentrates on the power unit for the big fellow which is a single cylinder 1.5L diesel engine. You’ll see that hunk of iron go back together and then you will see all of the work that was done put to the test both running as a free-wheeling engine and then running with the belt on the flywheel to actually spin the three cylinder air compressor.

Watching these guys muscle this air compressor around is something. We suppose it was good to have placed all this iron on wheels but it is a bit comical to see this thing and think, “Oh, that is convenient, we can just roll it around.” Yeah, no.

We dig the fact that there’s a little secondary work that need to be done to get it to fire up and we doubly appreciate the fact that the only starter is  a human with a crank. Ok, that is not true, it is actually two humans with a crank at one point. Watch this.
