This is an amazing piece of footage that appears to date from somewhere in the 1980s and it features the wildest pulling incident we have ever seen BY A LOT. What’s doubly weird is that this isn’t some gigundo multi-engine tractor or one of the go-kart sized but blown big block powered mini-rods. Nope, this is a row crop tractor that is hitched to the sled at what is probably a fair or local event of some type. What initially caught our eye before we even pushed play was the size of the tractor. The big International looks prepared to lay a hurting on the sled before things get going and it all goes downhill from there.
We are not sure if the driver was new or perhaps just trying to put on a show but he certainly didn’t handle the launch right. Either that or the hitch point on the tractor was way too high because for whatever reason, the tractor instead of moving forward levers up nearly vertical in an instant. The driver is not in a roll cage, he has no seatbelt on, 
and we have no idea how he stayed in the seat long enough to not fall out. Sensing his impending death, the driver immediately cuts ALL the power to the tractor and as you would expect, it comes down very hard. It comes down like someone pushed it off the roof of their house. As you will see, the unit hits so hard that it breaks completely in half, breaks the front wheels off, and the driver is thrown completely out of his seat and nearly INTO the engine! The guy hits the dashboard with his chest like he ran into a pommel horse at the Olympics. The throttle is jammed WFO and as the engine screams as high and hard as it can, the driver steps gingerly off the tractor and to the side. The video cuts with the engine still running full bore but starting to sound unhappy about the whole scene. We have never seen anything like this and probably never will again.
So was this an inexperienced driver? An equipment failure? Someone trying to show off and losing the handle on the tractor and their ability level? All three? We know it was expensive and required a crane to fix!

I would have to say that is more of a case improperly setup. It doesn’t look like he had enough weight on the nose, only 3, maybe 4 suitcase weights. He doesn’t seem to pop the clutch too quickly, as he gets going a bit before the nose heads into orbit.
Drawbar too high.
I like how he decided to walk up next to and look at the screaming engine. I would have been high tailing it past the sled.

Lack of safety equipment, would be what i think, also misplaced the weighs majorly on that ride!
Seems your lack of knowledge of this tractor and driver is as much as your photography ability. Very very weak.

Driver had years experience in Modified farm Stock class as it was called at the time.
The problem was the class. 15,000lb That tractor was able to make 8,000 with the fenders still on. so where to hang 7,000 lbs.
So tell me do you know this pullers name? Pulling Resume?
No you don’t so pay more attention to photography gosh knows it needs it.

I was there when it happened it was in Wooster Ohio Wayne county fair I think 1994 if I remember right
This was at wooster ohio in the late 80’s early 90’s the story i got from my uncle, who’s sled is being pulled. Was that the kids dad said “do not take that tractor to the fair we have to chop corn tomorrow” well after this happened you can imagine the kids disgust when he had to tell his dad he split the tractor in half. That’s just the story i got, how much of that is factual is up for debate.
So much of me hopes that story is true…
