Putting a 1,000hp turbocharged off-road buggy on the dyno rollers is bound to be fun but this video proves just how wild it is. Equipped with a super awesome Aussie built Albins trans axle and a specially designed 10.4″ clutch that both Weddle Industries and Centerforce worked on, the buggy knocks through the gears before the driver stands on the gas and the engine does what it was designed to do. One of the things that we really like about this video is watching the rear end squat way down when the power comes in. We were actually staring at the tires to see if they grew at all during the pull and other than the centrifugal force pulling the side walls tight, we’re not sure that they do.
As we’re not sure what the final drive ratio is in the back of the buggy we can’t say what the wheel speed was but it has to be way north of 100mph, right? With the engine hanging off the back, that gnarly transaxle bolted to it, and the giant remote reservoir shocks at the corners, this looks like a serious pieces of business. This video was shot at a shop called Wicked Horsepower in Las Vegas, Nevada and the caption on it says that the dyno session was a torture test for the clutch which was then taken out and beat on at the sand dunes. Rough life for the clutch but a fun life for the test driver, right?
We need one of these things in our life. You do too we’re sure.
BIG FUN happening
