Ride Shotgun In A Swamp Buggy As it Runs Full Bore Around The Mile O Mud In Florida!

Like many of you, I have waned to drive a swamp buggy since I was a kid in the 1980s and watched them tear up the famed Mile O Mud in Florida. Well this video from the Sims Racing YouTube page takes us and puts us right on the shoulder of the driver as he hauls ass around the track, through the famed ‘Sippi hole, and roars down the straights in front of the crowd. There’s a bellowing engine that we assume is a big block Chevy and there’s plenty of swampy water flying around to keep everyone happy.

We dig watching and listening to the driving technique here. You can hear the driver on and off the throttle at different points, perhaps to let the semi-boat like features of the buggy do its job in deeper water? The engine sounds sweet singing along at like 7,000 RPM on the straights.

This form of racing is so fascinating because it exists in one place on planet Earth. There are not many forms of motorsports that are this specialized. In fact, we cannot really come up with another one. There are those weirdo Pig in Ford races but those are contested with like Model Ts of whatnot. In terms of high speed, hardcore competition, Florida has a hammerlock on the world of swamp buggy warfare.

This video is awesome.
