Donut Media makes some pretty good stuff. Their videos are wide ranging and touch on a load of different automotive areas. The one we have posted below tells the story of the Cummins Engine Company from its founding by the legendary Clessie Cummins all the way through the modern times. The story of their early performances at the Indy 500 and finally their breakthrough into the world of mainstream transportation with the B-series engines appearing in Dodge trucks.
Cummins is an awesome American company with a uniquely American story. A young man, growing up on a farm shows incredible and natural aptitude for mechanical stuff, drops out of school, lives life as an empirical genius who builds the basis of a successful company which, over the course of decades, becomes one of the most important mechanical companies in the country.
The delivery of this video is the fun part. The facts are all in line from all that we know and we’ll forgive a couple of “Cummings” slip-up because of the laughs we got from the dude dropping the commentary. He does a good job and certainly made us smile more than a couple of times.
Don’t know the history of Cummins? Here’s your chance to learn, 2018 style.
Thanks for the link, Brian! I’ve been at Cummins now for 8 years and its a great company (I’ve worked for some not so greats…).
2019 will be a big year for us…100 YEARS! That’s a pretty big achievement for a little start up from Columbus, IN…and still owned and based here!
24 valve head started in 1998. 2003 was the start of the common rail.
I have loved all of the Cummins I’ve had. Engines are tough as nails. I’m hoping those V8s start showing up at the pull a part.
