High Tech, Big Buck Trucks: What Team Are You On? Tesla Cyber Truck Or The New Hummer Electric Truck?

High Tech, Big Buck Trucks: What Team Are You On? Tesla Cyber Truck Or The New Hummer Electric Truck?

(By Tom Lohnes) – The GMC Hummer EV has made a big splash in the recently birthed electric Pickup Truck market, so I thought that today I should make a list of the pros and cons of the Hummer against its main rival, the Tesla Cybertruck.

PRO:

-Off-road ability: The Cybertruck is likely nothing to be joking about off-road, but the Hummer seems way more focused toward off road capability. With it’s Escape mode, it can raise the Hummer up to 16 inches off the ground, which is the same height as the Hummer H1 rode. There is also crab mode, which allows the Hummer to move diagonally, among other things.

CON:

-Performance: although the Hummer is no slouch, the Cybertruck just edges it out due to its slightly lighter curb weight. Clocking in at 2.9 seconds to 60, there isn’t even a blink of an eye between the two, but if you want the quickest truck in the business, direct yourself to Tesla

PRO:

-Styling: with the Cybertruck all-around looking cool besides its hideous roofline, the Hummer had some tough competition styling-wise. Thankfully, they knocked it out of the park. With it’s tough but futuristic styling and lift-off roof, the Hummer looks great without being over styled.

CON:

-Pricing:As the Hummer is new and important to the industry, it’s not cheap. With prices easily exceeding $100,000, the Cybertruck looks like a bargain at $70,000 for a top-shelf one. But, for the Hummer, you might be paying for slightly better build quality and overall niceness, knowing Tesla.

So, these trucks are great in their own ways. One of them delivering distinct styling, and the other an insane torque figure, there’s a lot to look forward to in these trucks. Which one would you get? I’m on team Hummer

I’m rather skeptical that the Tesla Cybertruck is going to look anything like the pyramid power concept car when it makes it to production.

Unless it can tow my loaded race trailer a minimum of 300 miles without worrying if I’m gonna make it I’m not the least bit interested.

I sound like a broken record but these clowns are runnin’ their mouth about horsepower, torque blah blah blah.

Not one manufacturer has the stones to hook up a trailer and tow any distance because they can’t.

Give one to TFL and let them run their Ike Gauntlet test. Bet that would be good for a few laughs.

Overpriced, underperforming vehicles. Matbe 10 yrs from now the battety life will deal with heavy loads without draining the battery as quick. But now wouldn’t waste my time.

Neither. You have to produce electricity by converting fossil fuels. By ignoring this fact electrical vehicles sound like they are more efficient but in reality they are not.
If they really want to brag about something lets see them make a vehicle that does not require the conversion of fossil fuels, until then I’m not buying any of it. Elon Musk and the CEO of Toyota have both recently stated that to convert an automotive maker to completely electric vehicles is for that automaker to commit suicide.

You going to run every vehicle on solar? How about during the winter? Or in the northern climates where trucks are primarily used? Solar is more of a pipe dream than fossil fuels being converted to electricity.

I think I’ll just keep my old Cummins. Hell if everything goes to electric the old girl might actually gain value. These electric trucks are for folks who want to look cool. I’m too old to look cool now I just need a truck that can move my C3 and my two motorcycles simultaneously.
