It has haunted my email in-box, my Facebook feed, and my dreams for years. This incredible 1966 C60 Chevy crew cab is for sale and I am gently weeping over my keyboard for the simple fact that I’m not event near in the running to actually buy it. This is one of my favorite trucks of all time and judging by how many people have seen it, I am not alone.
The first thought that most people have is that this is a custom build from front to back and in some ways it is but not like you are expecting. That awesome four door cab was actually one of 500 built by a company called Crown Bodies under contract for GM according to the sales ad for the truck These were mostly used as fire trucks, railroad, forestry, and other municipal uses. They were extremely rare and when used in the context that this one is used it, absolutely stunning.
Rather than modify the frame, a 10-foot long bed was built from scratch and mounted behind the cab. The dually rear tires were ditched in favor of some super single rubber, and the engine which was likely a small block has been replaced by a torque making big block that was constructed to specialize in power down low. That engine has an Allison four speed automatic behind it. The rear axle is a massive Eaton with a 19.5-inch ring gear that likely limits the truck to 65 (or fewer) mph. Who cares or better yet, buy a Gear Vendors!
The interior is amazing and again, not exactly what you would expect. The front seats are form a late model truck and there is no rear seat so that means plenty of of room for storage, fans, and whoever else you want to jam back there. The paint is awesome and the big wide rear wheels are perfect in our eyes. We’re guessing that they were once fronts off cement mixer or something.
Listed for $55,000, I can’t argue with the price, just lament that I didn’t invest in the right stocks to afford it. Hopefully it goes to a good home!

Brian is this a call out? Christmas is only a month away leaving plenty of time for a loved to put it under the tree? Actually this is the ultimate truck to go get the tree!
Way better than the one posted days ago!
All that and its a damn gasser!
Beyond cool, but don’t ask me to mess with those Dayton “widowmaker” rims, I’ve already had more than my share of experience with ’em. My all time favorite body style, 60-66 GM trucks…. function with style.
Absolutely gorgeous truck! The only way it could be better is with the A pillar and hood from a 60-63 truck. I love the forward tilted A pillar and “nostril” hood.
the wheels and tires are tubeless but a neet truck real semple
