As if our love for the venerable deuce and a half army truck were not already widely known, here’s another video to highlight our love for these slogging green rigs. What you are about to see is said truck driving through deep water. How deep? Deep enough to completely wash over the hood and run into the open windshield, giving the driver a good bath. In the back of the truck there’s a guy and his kids and in a hilarious twist, the truck is dragging a boat down the river behind it. So we say river, but it actually isn’t. While it appears that this truck is driving through some sort of an endless bayou, it is actually driving along a gravel road that the driver apparently uses the force to follow.
We’re not sure if these people are escaping rising flood waters or what but the mood seems to be pretty upbeat and not at all like they are running for their lives. The truck is making that famous multi-fuel engine groan out of its exhaust stack as it plods through the water and while the camera does not spend a whole lot of time facing forward it does look like those guys are in for a long ride through the swamp, Dave Van Ronk style. They have covered some ground on their journey already and with the water pouring in over the dash board as they chug along the truck sounds happy as a pig in slop.
We love the fact that there’s water just pouring into the truck and the thing just does not care.
