Normally, I am the guy who crows about people modifying old trucks, especially heavy duty ones away from their original equipment. Hey, we all have an automotive “thing” and this one happens to be mine. Anyway, there are exceptions to all the rules and since I would probably sell a kiddo to own the truck you will see in the videos below, you can guess my opinion on it. From the body modifications which are both bold in nature but pulled off in a subtle manner to the performance, which is enough to have a kid in a Mustang brown streak his shorts, there’s a lot to love here.
On the exterior front, some stuff that would never sound good on paper actually looks great on this truck. The hot rod black paint with the black wheels comes off nicely and not contrived. The use of a Jeep Rubicon front bumper, complete with the fog lights was brilliant. The bumper gives the truck a sort of modern nose that nothing else would have done so well. Obviously the dually rear axle is awesome and the fact that dually fenders were stretched five inches in the middle to give enough width to cover the tires is cool. The bed wood is nicely done and the single exhaust stack looks cool and not lame like most do. The interior is 100% pulled from a 2003 Chevy truck and fits like a glove. That’s one of the more impressive elements of the truck, how finished the interior is with factory parts.
Finally, the engine and transmission are a Duramax and Allison combo pulled from a Chevy truck. We’re not sure how they have been wicked up but you’ll see the truck make a respectable drag strip lap way up on the mountain at Bandimere Raceway in Colorado and we know it wouldn’t run that number if it was bone stock so tuning has definitely been done.
What do you think? Evil? Cool? Needs color? I can tell you that I am deeply in love with the 1957 Chevy known as Dullamax.
THE FIRST VIDEO IS OF THE TRUCK AT THE DRAGS AND THE SECOND ONE IS A DETAILED WALK AROUND OF THE RIG, WATCH ‘EM BOTH –
Of course I think its cool! How can anyone not think that’s cool?
In my opinion it is suffering from a bit too much black on black on black – but its definitely cool!
Pretty cool truck. I’d rather see the old original metal dash. I don’t like modern plastic dash/steering wheels in old iron. Also not a fan of the grill…the Jeep bumper is pure genius though!
I agree. Too much plastic.
Get rid of the plastic dash and drop a 572 Hemi in it and it’s really rock.
Wasa real dog out of the hole, but holy hell past the sixty it looked to pull like a freight train…I dont care fore the lights and the grill/bumper…but overall this thing is cool as hell…
I just don’t care for plastic, grille, bumper, black, spikes and the stupid smoke stack through the bed. It would be cooler if it had some color to it and a little more originality. It looks like about a million other duallys out there.
Im gonna Brag a bit. The KID (30yo) that built this has real talent and is a super nice hard working guy. He is the husband of my ex wives Niece and I’ve known him since he was in High School. He is an awesome drag racer and has a sick Nova as well. His Job in HS and beyond was standing right there at the line for every major event at Bandi.
Home Built full custom truck? He wanted it and he built it. We should all be so talented and I’m and proud to have wrenched with him on a variety of projects.
