Well, this weekend Chad and I are headed in distinctively different directions, both both are pretty BangShifty. Chad will be plying the announcing trade at the NHRA Winternationals, held in Pomona, California while I’ll be loading up the cherubs and my intrepid wife to head north into the (not so) wilds of Maine. I’m heading to the Owl’s Head Transportation Museum to check out their “Snow Movers” festival which focuses on everything from old snow machines to snow plows and even cooler stuff than that.
Sure, he’ll be in the warm weather, hob knobing with the stars of the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, but I did the whole warm weather and nitro thing last weekend. Yes, he’ll see awesome action in the sportsman ranks, high winding Comp Eliminator engines, historic dragsters, and knife edged Pro Stocks, but I’ll see (and possibly ride in) a Lombard Steam Log Hauler (pictured below), one of only 84 such made and less than 10 in the world!
Chad’s diet will be Coke, smokes, and tube steaks, while we’ve already mapped out some killer old diners to sample on the way up to the Maine coast. Hell, there is zero chance of him seeing anthing steam powered there in Pomona, so that’s a check in my column, right?
If nothing else, our individual plans pretty much sum up the breadth and scope of the BangShift universe. From nitro to steam, we dig it all.
