Bangshift Question of the Day: What’s Your Gearhead New Year’s Resolution?

Bangshift Question of the Day: What’s Your Gearhead New Year’s Resolution?

Christmas is coming tomorrow and then we’ll be just days away from 2014. As seems to be the normal thing to do at this time of the year (the bitter end!), people make resolutions to do (or not do) stuff in the coming trip around the sun. Lots of us gearheads are goal-minded people and this could be the perfect time to challenge yourself to accomplish something in 2014. That “something” certainly doesn’t have to be massive, maybe it is something as simple as getting to the strip to watch the action once or twice in the coming season, maybe killing a cone at a local autocross, hell,  maybe just attempting a repair or upgrade on your junk that’s held you at bay for a while. There are few things more personally satisfying in life than accomplishing a self set goal. No matter the size.

Our goals are pretty simple. We’re aiming to continue bringing you killer content each day. We’re going to bring you awesome live feeds from events across the country, starting in just a couple of weeks. We’re going to make you laugh, scream, and throw things at your computer screen as you watch and read BS each day. We’re going to share our stories of project car success and failure with blood, warts, and all…because that’s what real life is. We’re going to try to meet as many of you as possible. We’re going to try and surprise you with stuff a few times this year too. Other than that, we’re going to keep being diverse in our content, dedicated in our event coverage, and unrelenting in staying on top of the stuff you want to read about and watch. We’re not going to pick up a sleep habit any time soon. We’ll do that in about 60 years, thanks.

That’s what we’re bringing to the table. What say you?

My resolution is to get my 500 cad powered C10 on the road this year… No really THIS year. All that’s left is plumb it, wire it, pipe it, slam it, fire it, and drive it. 2014 will be the year..

      Sweet! What year?

Mine is to get my ’70 Suburban project out of my mom’s shop and on the road. The 502/th475 is going in next week for a test fit, after languishing for ELEVEN YEARS.

I’ve really been thinking about it long and hard for months. I’m going to get the Montego so I can at least drive it by just fixing what needs fixing and keeping it simple. No more visions of grandeur. I’m taking two weeks off in January and it’s time to kick some ass since I’m turning 50 and the clock is ticking.

    1. Must get to the March Meet in 2014. This I can do.
    2. Finish the Studebaker Hawk First Love Project
    3. Drive the Salty Lark at El Mirage in May
    4. Drive the Salty Lark at Bonneville in August
    5. Build the Studebaker Ramp Truck Car Hauler
Big list but all things are possible with lots of help from friends. I should finish chemo treatments in late January or early February. Then put it in high gear until it comes back again then slow down, get treated and then do it all over again until all goals have been met. This is more than a wish list this is my “Therapy” list.
