BangShift Question Of The Day: What Is The Model Name Of This Russian Chevy Malibu?

I’m not kidding in the least, readers…looking directly at the nose of this Chevrolet Malibu makes my eyes hurt just a little bit. What in the name of all that’s holy is going on with this thing? Well, we have a trar, which is something we dig, and it appears to use a combination of suspension and body lift to get up in the air. The wheelwell flares are a nice touch, as is the Rubber Duck hood ornament. The side pipes and rear-view mirrors that look like they were raided from a late 1980s Blazer or Suburban work, too. What doesn’t work, however, is the nose clip that is a complete rip of the Wagon Queen Family Truckster in execution. It’s another G-body Malibu nose clip flipped upside-down and bolted on. Is this to get past some kind of bumper law in Russia? Honestly, if it was us driving around over there, we’d have roo bars like you’d see on an Australian road train and a cage inside of the car just to be sure. We’ve seen the dashcam footage.

We aren’t too sure what to make of this beast, and we’re at a bigger loss for naming it. In the late 1970s, GM was the last place to look for a really wild, off the wall design…they were playing it safe and sound. No freak like this would have ever escaped the proving grounds. But in Russia…well, it went and it’s here. Name it, folks! K5 Malibu?

It is called a Wrostoi T’var Dniepra – which translated into English means Huge Ugly Pile Of Shit….

  2. Scott Liggett

Looking at the hood ornament, it may be the reincarnation of the Rubber Mack truck.

Or, this is the result of 1000’s of Malibus being sold all over the middle east and Russia invading a few of them.
