What Motorsport Event Would Be Your First Choice To Attend For The First Time?

What Motorsport Event Would Be Your First Choice To Attend For The First Time?

With NHRA’s US Nationals at Indy coming up, and Bonneville Speed Week concluding not long ago, it got me thinking about the motorsports events that fill my thoughts and desires most. Those events that I haven’t attended yet, but fantasize about and scheme on how to get to them. For some the two listed would be enough to satisfy a life time. Other folks want to see F1 or the Indy 500. The BAJA 1000 has to be on that list as well, but what else? Isle of Man TT? Lemans? Daytona Bike Week? The list of events all around the world are staggering, and while similar, each one has its own personality and therefore its own impact on spectators, racers, and fans. This is what makes them unique and special and makes folks want to attend them.

I happen to have attended some amazing events in my life, including numerous NHRA races, the BAJA 1000, Bonneville, the Long Beach Grand Prix, and so much more. But there are ones you wouldn’t expect me to have missed that I also want to hit. For instance, I haven’t been to Indy for the US Nationals. Weird right? I’ve announced at that track several times, have raced there in several cars, but have never actually been there during the US Nationals. I’ve driven on Formula 1 race tracks, but never attended an F1 race. I’ve been to Monaco a couple of times and have never been there for F1 either. The list could be long of events I really need to visit, but for now it isn’t about me, it is about you.

We want to know what event or events would be a MUST ATTEND for you. If someone offered you a package that got you to and from the event of your dreams, what would it be?

WHAT RACE OR MOTORSPORTS EVENT WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO SEE IN PERSON FOR THE FIRST TIME?

LET US KNOW IN THE COMMENTS SECTION BELOW.

  1. Chevy Hatin' Mad Geordie

Drag racing as the North East of England where I live is a motor sport desert and I’d find it hard to afford to get all the way to Santa Pod.

    1. Longrod Von Hugendong

Maybe if you had more LS powered vehicles up there, there would be something worth racing.

  2. 75Duster

I’ll just give you my “bucket list” on events that I want to attend:
    SEMA
    SummerNats
Santa Pod, Geordie I have relatives in England.
    Lemans
    24 Hours of Lemons
    Bonneville Speed Week

  3. Mark Panos

Speedway Grand Prix at Cardif in the UK. Motorcycles with no brakes, only a single speed, but with an ethanol-snortin’ 500cc single cylinder engines. Oh, did I mention the steel shoe the riders wear, this is the motorcycle version of drifting at its best! Would love to see in person!

I have a list, most won’t happen, but I can dream!

    Isle of Man TT
    Goodwood Festival of Speed
    Bonneville
    Springfield Mile AFT

My first love is fuel dragsters and funny cars. However, since you didn\’t say existing event, I would really like to see the Blimpmobile road race series that\’s purported to be in some stage of development. Apparently a Spec/Formula class where the vehicles will closely resemble the new style Goodyear blimp using fiberglass bodies and 1000+HP engines! Seems like it would also be great for attracting sponsors, young people and the general public to Motorsports. [It would be awesome to see these things three wide off turn four at Daytona or down the front stretch at Indy as well!] Second choice would be any racing at Isle of Mann…

    1. Ted Guth

World of Outlaws Sprint Cars in Knoxville, IA.
Unlimited Hydroplanes at the Seafair Festival in Seattle, WA.
Nitro hill-climb bikes at the “Widowmaker” hill in Croydon, UT (R.I.P.)

  6. Dan

Isle of Man TT. I don’t really even like motorcycles but when I watch that race on TV it makes me sweat. It looks CRAZY!!

  7. PJ Nadeau

I would say as a spectator:
    F1, SPA.
    24 hours of Lemans.

    As a competitor:
    Street Machine Drag Challenge
Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational (Sema)
    One Lap of America
Rocky Mountain Race Week (next year maybe?)
