Unless one is parked at SEMA this year, the likelihood that any one of the three of us gets near a Bugatti Chiron is exactly zero. They are fresh, they are fast, and even Bugatti themselves don’t completely know 100% just how fast the replacement for the world-class Veyron is. Seriously, they haven’t top-speed tested it yet, but what they recently revealed is just how sincerely fast the damn thing is, and how quickly the car will slow down. In just under two miles, this Chiron completed a zero to 400 kilometer per hour to zero run in 42 seconds. Hypercar be damned, that’s an achievement. The hotshoe that got to sample the goods without restraint is Juan Pablo Montoya, a Grand Prix winner, Indy 500 winner, Daytona 500 winner, and the origin of the strangest NASCAR incident we’ve ever seen in recent history. On this day, though, Montoya was on his game for the wildest E-ticket ride available at this point in time.
We will sit patiently and wait for the final top-speed numbers to come in when Bugatti gets around to the test sometime next year, but for now, enjoy the official Guiness World Record for the 0-400-0 time:
Great Juan Pablo…and you didn’t hit and track service trucks!!
One of the drag week heavy hitters needs to take a crack at this, I’m guessing Larson’s Nova could do it in 20 seconds or less (is a chute legal?..)
why does the fastest production car in the world have to also be the ugliest car in the world?
