Felipe Massa, the 28 year-old Ferrari team Formula One driver was struck in the head by a spring that fell off of Rubens Barrichello’s car during Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying. He was apparently rendered unconsious or dazed as he drove straight into the tire wall after jumping a curb and piling through the sand trap.
It appears that Massa comes to milliseconds before hitting the tire wall as he locks up the brakes in a fruitless effort to stop before impact. He was in the car for some time and flown to a medical center. Recent reports indicate that he is in stable condition.
