It’s no secret that for the last several years, I’ve been all about the trend of dragging ancient iron from where they had been slumbering, waking them up and returning these machines back to the road. There is nothing that I’ve learned to hate more than a car that sits and does absolutely nothing for no good reason. It drives me up the wall. Whenever the opportunity presents itself, I want to see anyone who is able to roll up, revive and return to the roadway. Kevin and Mook have been in this game for years now, and their latest revival project, the third A-body Olds Cutlass that’s been on the channel, is another well-deserving vehicle. We’ve shown you what it took to wake the car up, and we’ve shown you how they drove it back from Texas to their home in Iowa. We’ve also heard the story of the car from a letter written by the woman who originally had the car before the dark gold Cutlass wound up being adopted by her mother, and how the Oldsmobile was well-loved and kept until she passed on.
Now that the car is home, it’s time to see something that isn’t normally seen on your average YouTube revival: paint revitalization. Kevin’s dad has years of bodywork and paintwork experience under his belt, and we’ve seen his work before on the other gold Oldsmobile that Kevin saved…that wound up becoming his Dad’s car. Since that particular video series wrapped up, Junkyard Dad has been taking that car to shows and keeping it nice and pretty. Follow along as he demonstrates how to bring the shine out in Mook’s new Cutlass, despite years of dust and some rough spots in the body. And if you notice a lack of Kevin in this video, don’t worry about it. He had his own project to take care of in the background, off-camera.
