Really Rough Start: You Can Walk Away With The Cadillac Limo From The LeMons Rally…If You Really Want To.

Really Rough Start: You Can Walk Away With The Cadillac Limo From The LeMons Rally…If You Really Want To.

Here’s the definitive proof that I do not go out of my way to save every last vehicle: If you are willing to plunk down the $500 that is being asked for the 1986 Cadillac limo that became somewhat famous for running the LeMons rally eariler this year, you deserve every last thing you have coming to you. Missing floors, science fair carpeting, more mold cultures than a research laboratory, a very outmatched Olds 307 hooked up to a transmission that should be either rebuilt or replaced…first gear took a walk a long time ago. And that’s before we get into the Initial D-inspired Panda paint job, the body flex that can be seen when the car tries to turn, or any of the unlisted maladies that come with buying a clapped out $500 limousine that is worth more in scrap than as transportation.

From the ad:

Here is your chance to own an award winning 1986 Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine with almost all of its gears! This fine piece of automotive history recently wine 1st place in the 24 Hours of LeMons Rally, Retreat from Moscow.

The Lemo currently has an Olds 307 bolted on to a TH200 transmission. The engine though not a power house worked great during the rally.

The back of the limo is stripped out of everything but the carpet and seats to prevent the spread of whatever was lurking in the mold.

Though it has the pedigree of history’s most famous automobiles, there are some issues with the vehicle.

1. The transmission is missing 1st gear. Oddly enough we never used the Lemo without first gear so we suspect that 1st gear is optional.

2. The floor pans beneath both front seats are rotted out. Well they’re not just rotted it out, they are just plain missing.

3. Something happened to the original sentinel light system that make the lights cut in and out. The part is available at most junkyard and is an easy fix.

4. 2.5 of the doors work. I say 2.5 because the driver side door has to been opened from the inside.

If you’re still interested and not deterred by a paltry list of easily fixable issues, please consider purchasing this award winning beast of a car. Imagine cruising through Minnesota with most of the windows down while your friends enjoy the majesty that is owning a 1986 Cadillac Fleetwood Limousine.

Unless you have a blown 500ci Cadillac mill laying around and a sick desire to twist a limousine into a pretzel the really fun way, we’d say pass. But the car did make the drive in the winter, and there are some of you readers out there who might actually give this one a shot, so if you are one of those really sick ones, what would you do with this road-going monster?

As someone who has driven a 120 inch stretch Caddy of the same vintage, I am now having horrible flashbacks. Thanks a lot, Bryan.
