Rough Start: Yes, This Super-Clean 1979 Pontiac LeMans Needs An LS Swap.

Rough Start: Yes, This Super-Clean 1979 Pontiac LeMans Needs An LS Swap.

We’ve heard just about every possible reason why nobody should ever swap an LS engine into another car ever again. And right now, we don’t care…this grandma-fresh, “Montego Cream”, 89,000 mile 1979 Pontiac LeMans sedan is not only is the perfect candidate for GM’s wonder mill, but we defy you to give a better option that won’t break the bank. Yeah, we know that a well-built Pontiac V8 would be the dream, but price a good build out, and tell me you’d be willing to stuff it between the tan fenders of this ode to the Malaise era? Really? No. If you are actually going to hop up the Pontiac that has been hidden in someone’s garage for at least the last twenty years, you’re going to want to do it cheaply and effectively. Look…the seller has even given you a discount for the non-functional air-conditioning. At least take a look!

lemans 3 lemans 2Here’s why an LS-swap makes sense: the kits are out there for the A/G body GM cars. You’ll be able to pull an LS mill for a reasonable amount. Don’t change just about anything on the car visually…just widen at least the rear wheels, figure out how to not lose a hubcap, tweak the suspension to handle the newfound power and there you go…instant sleeper. The interior is mint, the paint is great for doping the next sucker, and there will be plenty of room underhood for a turbocharger. Put a tachometer and a shift light in place of one of the air vent ports and call it good. The Pontiac itself is $2,129 right now and is being sold in northern Arizona, so don’t sweat rust one bit. There is no way that, starting from scratch, you could put together a better combo that will fly under the radar and whip ass. Just remember: don’t cheap out on the good bits, and make sure this LeMans looks the same when you are done. And be sure to send us the kill videos…from the track, of course.

    Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn!

Why not be original and slot in an FE – then you can laugh at all the LS lovers gnashing their few hideously stained teeth,,,,

Here’s why an LS-swap makes sense: the kits are out there for the A/G body GM cars………the best deals in town at 7-11 or amazon and requires no thinking and no brains.
same thing day in and day out. doesn’t anybody get bored anymore???

Ok, so you have a really nice low mileage Pontiac Lemans. And you cannot put together a 400 inch Pontiac without breaking the bank?
Sure you can put an LS in it and then thats all it is….another LS swap.

I’m all for being different when it makes sense, but the LS swap just returns the most bang for the buck.

Love a good sleeper, and this one would really fit the bill.

Way too many “sleepers” now days. Everywhere you turn there is some turd with a turbo LS & the clowns think they are really pulling the wool over on people. It’s really a joke now days, put time & money in something worthy.
