If there’s one thing we dig here at BangShift, it’s the good old road trip, and while we have our individual choices, I don’t see any issues with offering up one of the biggest, brightest Mopars I’ve seen in quite some time up as the perfect cruiser: a 1971 Chrysler New Yorker coupe in eye-searing Lemon Twist, the factory color. Normally these were brown, or green, or black, or any other color…someone must have had a sick sense of humor to walk over to the Chrysler lot holding up the Plymouth paint code book, ready to order a New Yorker two-door. And whoever this interesting individual is, they ordered something else not normally seen in a high-end Chrysler from the early 1970s: a floor-shifted automatic. That’s rare in any C-body Mopar, but in a New Yorker you might as well have been greeted by a leprechaun holding a small pot of gold out for you to take with a smile.
