Squarebody Shopping: This 1977 Chevrolet C10 Is Over-The-Top And Well Done

We love our square-body GM trucks around here. How can you not? General Motors might have made some serious false steps along the way, like killing the Fiero when it got good, killing the F-body when it got really good, and killing Pontiac when they had finally gotten out of body-cladding rehab, but the trucks are one place that the company hadn’t screwed up royally. For eighteen years total, you could get a truck that bridged the gap between utility and comfort just about perfectly, a truck with a handsome design, solid engine lineup, and trim packages that ran the gamut from stripped to stuffed. Dolled up in two-tone paint schemes, they were outright lookers, too. There’s a reason why we all dig them…it’s difficult to do wrong with them!

On the outside, this 1977 Chevrolet C10 Scottsdale is a perfect ten. The black and bronze two-tone is bang-on perfect, the nice wide steelies with restored caps looks great, and while we all would prefer a flat hood in lieu of the cowl scoop, it’s nothing that takes away from the overall theme. The small mirrors on the doors are a nice modification, and we can’t argue against the grunt the 6.0L mill will provide. Power steering, power brakes, Vintage Air, a Kenwood sound system…we see road trip heaven in the perfect square body. Then we look inside, hoping to see the upgraded gauges, and…

Oh. Oh, steer. The seats and the dash are covered in the hides of Texas cattle. Some of you might be all over that. We’re looking at the seat and dash with one raised eyebrow. We aren’t quite sure what to make of that. Maybe you can provide some opinions…

I’m sorry but I’m not rural enough to deal with “natural” leather interior. Just no. The rest of the truck is perfect though.
