Epic Craigslist Find: The Comfort Of A Caddy And The Go-Anywhere Nature Of A K5 Blazer, All In One!

Epic Craigslist Find: The Comfort Of A Caddy And The Go-Anywhere Nature Of A K5 Blazer, All In One!

A good friend of mine, Joe, used to own a Cadillac Eldorado somewhat like the one pictured. Dark green, tan top, cream-colored interior and doted on as if it was his first love. Hell, it might have been, the way he babied that car. We all can fully understand keeping your top ride looking great, keeping it washed, making sure the interior is neat, clean and presentable. Joe took that maintenance level so far beyond anyone I have ever seen before or since that he is still, after all these years, the high-water mark for being devoted to a car. At one point in time he even scolded me for sitting down too fast into the passenger seat…that’s how well he treated his Eldorado.

Right now I think I can hear him screaming at the top of his lungs in full, unbridled fury.

Here’s the truth: The last-generation Eldorado has a nice, subtle yet handsome shape and a lovely interior, but the Northstar V8 becomes a nightmare if it running any less than perfect, and there is that issue with front-wheel-drive to contend with. While I’ve been patiently waiting for a RWD-converted one to come out racing (LS swap haters, hush, this is a perfect candidate) someone in Detroit was busy mating the better parts of a 1998 Eldorado onto the frame of a 1985 Chevrolet Blazer. The running gear is pretty much as you would expect, a 350/automatic combination, and the suspension has been treated to a six-inch lift. The body is mounted on a two-inch lift and a custom rear bumper fitted under the Eldorado’s stock bumper cover. For $7,000, you can roll in style in comfort…over half of the cars parked in the parking lot of your choice. Would you rock it?

If I could figure out how to get it through a smog test, I’d be tempted to do a fly and drive for this one!

Yes yes I would rock it. I’m trying to talk my wife into a road trip right now…. she just reminded me we don’t have our passports. Ah well.
