This 1955 Studebaker Champion Deluxe Is A Beautiful Driver That Is Surprisingly Attainable!

This 1955 Studebaker Champion Deluxe Is A Beautiful Driver That Is Surprisingly Attainable!

It’s amazing to think that the new-for-1953 Studebaker coupes were a failure. Once the company got their act together after a horrendous start that involved bad tooling and production delays, these coupes sold amazingly well, and oddly enough, time has been kind to their design. Maybe it’s because we normally see them in land-speed racing, or maybe it’s because we don’t normally see them otherwise, but when a Studebaker “Loewy” coupe is present, it commands attention. But this one isn’t a show car, a race car, or anything like that. It’s a driver, from the Chevrolet small-block under the hood to the Cadillac-sourced interior bits that make life behind the wheel that much better.

We can hear the cries of foul over the powertrain flying already, but you know what? You can get in, start this Champion up, and drive it, no worries, and drop jaws wherever you plan on taking it. It doesn’t have to be outrageous to be beautiful, it doesn’t need to scream to turn heads. Wherever you go in this car, people will notice you and honestly, in a sea of gray potato-mobiles, that wouldn’t be a bad thing at all.
