If all the smarmy jerks that drive around in their Smart cars knew that they were sitting in an idea that was more than 50 years old they may not be so smug. In fact, we think it would be awesome to tweak and tune on a Nash Metro, maybe install a basic fuel injection setup and put together a mileage run against a Smart. Who wants in?
As the press release says, these cars could knock down 40 mpg back in the late ‘50s when mileage was not much of a concern to anyone. We think that they are handsome little cars, and that if you are thinking of putting a blown big-block in one, that you should hold off. It’s been done to death.
Instead we recommend a turbocharged Ecotec four-banger or a little 2.0L Ford Ecoboost engine. That would be riotous!
Dig the press materials on these unique little cars that were just several short decades ahead of their time.
