So while we have the live broadcast of the 2013 NHRA New England Hot Rod Reunion presented by AAA Insurance, we had some downtime yesterday due to the rain at New England Dragway. Rather than waste that time, we decided to spend it being productive. By being productive I mean to say that we both went to the other guy’s local Craigslist area and set forth shopping. The object was to find something the other guy would really, really like. Since I am a truck dude, and Chad is probably expecting me to go all Camaro on him, I decided to zig instead of zag. Can’t you see Chad romping around in this awesome tweaked up Unimog? It has massive tires, attachments, rescue gear, and a snappy paint job that came straight off of a Case tractor, hue, graphics, and all.

Why would Chad dig this thing? Let’s start with the tires. These look like 46″ jobs to us and they are all kinds of knobby and awesome. The tires alone make this thing boss, but then you have to look at the 30,000lb recovery winch, the snowblower attachment the Mog comes with, the fact that it has a 20 speed transmission (yeah, I just said 20-speed transmission), a rebuilt and fresh engine that is non-turbocharged so he can put the turbo of choice he wants on it, and a hydraulic leveling system. The short wheelbase means that he won’t have to worry about high-siding the thing in the sand or on the rocks, and while it will be slower than molasses in the winter time, he’ll look good trundling down the road and crushing lame ass electro-Prius-mobiles at will. Come to think of it, I want to keep this one for myself.

What do you think? Can you see Chad’s beard gently flapping in the breeze as he heads down the road in this bad boy? The smiling KC Hilites perched above the cab seem to fit like a glove. Hell, he could even install a couple of Z/28 badges on this mother to make it feel more like home if he wants.
