Epic Famoso Speed Shop 1963 Ford Econoline Pickup For Sale On Craigslist!

Epic Famoso Speed Shop 1963 Ford Econoline Pickup For Sale On Craigslist!

Last night at about 8pm our buddy Ron “Chassisman” Thomas texted me a link to a post on Craigslist in Bakersfield for a 1963 Ford Econoline Pickup that has Famoso Speed Shop painted on the side and is all old and faded and absolutely beautiful. We’ve never seen photos of a Famoso Speed Shop 1963 Ford Econoline Pickup, so we don’t know if it’s an old project, an actual old relic, or what. We proceeded to text back and forth about how great this thing was and here is how the conversation went.

Ron: “Holy hell…we need this!!!….Now!!!!!”
Chad: “Holy crap! I’m going to run that tomorrow on the site! I want it!”
Chad: “Dear Santa…”
Ron: “No s*^t…what a way to end 2013…epic truck!!!”
Chad: “Way!”

At this point I couldn’t contain myself so I called on the ad. Unfortunately there was no answer and so I left a message for the seller.

Chad: “Just called the number in the ad and left a vm.”
Ron: “Sweet…..keep me posted.”

I’ve gotten no answer as of yet, but I’m trying to find out if the current owner has any information about the truck’s history etc. If we find something out, we’ll let you all know. In the meantime I hope this dude doesn’t make some stupid offer and tell us that we can have it for $800 if we come get it today. That would be bad because in about 2 hours Ron and I would be the proud co-owners of this thing. This could be dangerous.

Check out the photos below, and let us know what you would do with it. Click the link at the bottom of the page if you want to check out the original ad.

don’t know if it’s real or not, but if it is….why would they letter over primer spots…..wouldn’t the truck be painted & then lettered?!

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, even inside the ‘A’ and ‘O’ it’s primer, and those ‘down to primer’ wear marks seem odd, shouldn’t they be on high spots where they’d get worn out, not on the low spots? Of course I could be totally wrong (who doesn’t like a good mystery? ha). Looks like a very cool recreation of one though, (the white wall tire combo seems a bit stylized too, I bet that seat in the back was thrown in there for a good touch, nice! ha)

That thing would make the ultimate gasser/bracket racer…..Putting a wheel on someone would be a piece o cake !!!!…. I aired up the trailer tires this morning….JUST IN CASE……..

Looks like a fake-patina-signage job to me. Like craig b blue said… the lettering is done OVER old primer. Also, I do not thing there was ever a Fomoso speed shop… as there aren’t any business storefronts out there, j
ust a gas station and a motel on the highway…

Clay Smith sticker looks a little too new also. Looks like someone put some “aged” lettering on a $500 hulk so they could ask an $1000 for the “history”.

Clay Smith decals face different directions as well. Seems like something that if they were original-would have been painted on and would have both faced forward.
