Rough Start: How About A 1972 Chevrolet Flatbed That Will Be A Bit More Affordable Than That Fast And Furious Truck?

Rough Start: How About A 1972 Chevrolet Flatbed That Will Be A Bit More Affordable Than That Fast And Furious Truck?

I don’t mean to post two of the same vehicle on the same day, but this 1972 Chevrolet was just too good to pass up. I’m on a bit of a truck kick and you just can’t go wrong with a 1967-72 Chevrolet or GMC…they are awesome. And I do love the Fast and Furious rig, don’t get me wrong, but at the end of the day it’s a movie car going up for auction. That thing is going to have a ridiculous price tag attached to it, the kind that makes you sick. So before you wind up at the bar next to a Texan wearing Bedazzled jeans, may I offer up a consolation prize just a couple hours north near Oklahoma City? It’s amazing that this Chevy has managed to survive forty-six years without winding up in the path of a tornado or some other horrific fate, but the pictures don’t lie. This C30 only sports some basic age marks has only seemed to lose it’s carpet and original steering wheel over the years.

Instead of a 502 and an automatic that has been faked to look like a Roadranger box, you get a 350 and the granny-low SM465 four-gear manual transmission, and that super-sweet Mexican blanket-style seat cover that seemed to be a factory option for every pickup truck made through the late 1980s. You’ve got a heater, some repaired items, some rust on the floor and a lift gate on the back of the truck that needs to have it’s cylinder rebuilt. All in all, you’ve got the start of something really cool that can either be put to work or built into something awesome.

Now, as for the price…you’re going over by five hundred dollars on the Rough Start budget. But look at the truck and tell me you can’t find another couple hundred? There are panels for the bed, so just imagine the money coming in when people start calling you to come over and lend a hand with your truck for a couple of hours. You’ll earn back that deficit, no problem.

Agreed with Weasel1. Maybe put a correct steering wheel on and make the interior nice (but original style) and just drive it.

The F&F truck is lame anyways.

Great old work horse. If you had this truck. And once all your friends with Rangers and S-10’s found out you had it. You be as busy as a cat covering up shit on a hot tin roof, every weekend.Hauling stuff there toy trucks can’t.Heck it even has a lift gate.I would have to get it for about 4k myself.
