Rough Start “Tour Of Temptation”: 1969 Ford Falcon Futura

Okay, as of today it’s Rocky Mountain Race Week for your guide to low-buck classified hunting, and I’ve decided to try something a bit different today. From today until I’m back home at BangShift Mid-West, I’m going to hit up the sites and playing by the Rough Start rules (read: $5,000 budget, including price of car, for running/driving vehicle, OR one worth spending the coin on) I’m going to dig up a gem in each location. So, as I’m typing, my next destination is Morrison, Colorado, which is in the Denver metro area, so far as I’m concerned all of Denver is ripe for the picking. Colorado is technically my home state and I’m pretty familiar with how little the vehicles actually rust out there…unless it’s a winter-only driver that was put away wet every single time, the likelihood of finding good material is high.

So, today’s find: 1969 Ford Falcon Futura four-door. In short, it’s a four-door Mustang that didn’t get the Mustang’s really fun bits, like the better suspension pieces or the absolutely wicked engine choices. But the bones are there to make this little four-door something very respectable. You’ve already got a small-block Ford under the hood that runs and overall the car is a Comet wash and buff away from being very decent as-is. Some mild hop-ups and a set of old-school mags of appropriate style and size would really brighten this Falcon up. Long-term, we’re thinking either a Trans-Am racer look or maybe a sleepy Boss 302-inspired sedan…sedate looks on the outside, all the good stuff in the hardware. For $3,500, I’d say jump. What about you?

WOW, A v8 car with power steering. That’s very rare for a falcon. 99% were 6 cylinder with no power nothin….

make it a GTHO SUPER ROO. This is exactly what Aussie Ford did, add Cleveland, Top Loader and 9 inch then look out! Super Roo parts might even fit this car. suspension and lighting.
