The Worst Idea Ever Is For Sale On Craigslist – Hilarious Ad For An Awesome Deathtrap

The Worst Idea Ever Is For Sale On Craigslist – Hilarious Ad For An Awesome Deathtrap

It has been a little while since we have seen a genuinely hilarious Craigslist ad, but we have one for you served up on a silver platter today. The title of the ads is, “Worst Idea Ever!” and in many ways, this thing is but it is a horrible idea we want to go have some fun on. What is the supposed bad idea? Well, it is a junky “Yerf Dog” Chinese made off road style go kart that has been re-powered with an old school 500cc Yamaha Clymer dirt bike engine. The two stroke terror is wayyyy more powerful than the Chinese junk motor that it replaced. The thing that truly rules about this whole situation is the ad itself, which made us laugh the whole way through.

To quote the first few lines:

I am selling the worst idea ever.

In fact, I don’t think that normal people should buy it. But if you have a tendency for poor decisions and questionable choices, please continue reading.

I am selling a used project Yerf Dog go kart, or go cart, (whatever)

We took out the stock 5hp motor and swapped in a..

500 cc two-cycle Yamaha Clymer dirt bike engine.
yes, this little kart is packing 500 cc of two-stroke fury.

Kick start ignition, the engine needs starter fluid to start, but once it fires…the sound is brutal. The exhaust drops straight into a Ducati can and the noise will alter migration patterns of wildlife and attract everyone with a y chromosome within a 1/4 mile radius.

This is just a TASTE of the whole ad….keep reading.

The modified cart looks pretty cool and while it is definitely home-brewed, it is well done. Don’t get us wrong, it is completely bat-dookie insane, but it is a well done kind of bat dookie insane. Either way, you’ll probably have to be identified by your dental records when you crash the thing, but the seller is pretty clear in telling you that death is one false move away when you are driving this menace to society. Currently clutch problems are plaguing the machine and for that reason the seller is not allowing test drives, but it seems like it would be a relatively easy fix and the dude is only look for $300. Honestly, if this was close to the BS eastern world HQ, we’d own it by now.

Live near Denver? Need a Christmas present for yourself? BUY IT!

Wow! The thing even looks like a bad idea. I’d be interested to know to whom he sells it and how long they manage to survive after the purchase. I can’t imagine a buyer would make it longer than a week without sustaining a serious head injury or death. Great post!

Just picture the twin rooster tails this thing would put up in the dirt…as you scream “how do I stop this thing?”

I WOULD NOT EVEN TEST DRIVE THAT UNIT…..I USED TO TRY ANYTHING WITH AN ENGINE AND STEERING WHEEL.

If I saw it for sale here in Ely it would be in the back of my pickup truck as fast as I could hand over the cash.

The funny part here, is that this isn’t a home built cart. It’s a Yerfdog 3203. I had one with a 5hp Tecumseh and a custom hydraulic disc brake setup on it. We realized that the rear swing arm was so crappy that it would bend slightly when you applied the brakes. It was good for around 25mph with the Tecumseh, I don’t even want to know what it would do with the setup this one has.

If you peeps remember the Honda 90 three wheeler off road triks, we put a `77 Yamaha RD 400 in one, it was a bolt up operation like it was made for it, a blast in the sand, scary on dirt…..

omg—-I remember those yammie motors—powerband like a light switch, worse than a kawisaki 500 triple (and that’s saying a lot)—-would be a great gift for pretty much any current member of congress “seriously, this will be a great photo op,congressman, just hit the throttle!!”

I used to have a Honda Odyssey FL350 that was awesome but always seemed to need more power in my book.

I also had a KTM MXC495 that was a factory assembled screw up as it didn’t have the 4 speed trans that the 495 was supposed to have. It was a 6 speed if I remember correctly now and headlight and tail light on it.

Anyway I had the factory Dyno sheet and it was 57 Horsepower a was a rocket ship period! I wanted to put that engine in the Odyssey but couldn’t bring myself to tear the bike apart, luckily I didn’t as I later sold the KTM early 2000 for $2500 to Germany! Then I traded the Odyssey for a 1971 Elcamino SS clone that I traded for a 1969 Camaro that I EBAY’d for $10,500.

Ain’t been able to pull off a deal like that again 🙁
