We finally got around to checking out the ADRL homepage for coverage of the Hardee’s Georgia Drags VI, which was held last weekend at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, Georgia. In checking out the results and stories we stumbled upon an incredible photo sequence featuring Tommy D’Aprile losing an oil line and crashing the Mel Eaves owned Camaro he was driving. The impact looked very hard and the fireball was even more nightmarish, but D’Aprile walked away. Check this out!
Suffering this type of failure really is a worst case scenario for a driver. Once things start happening because you’ve coated a slick with oil, the car is impossible to save and the pilot is just along for the ride. Every time one of these happen, and the guy walks away, we’re amazed. Tommy needs to thank the chassis builder for putting together one hell of a safe car.
