(All images courtesy of theophiluschin.com) Ever look at a car and start to critique it, pick it apart, and dream up what you would do to it? Turn a sedan into a coupe, a car into a truck, a nip here, tuck there. Ever want to actually see your vision? One man does on a consistent basis. His name is Theophilus Chin. He’s thirty-six years old and describes his work as “automotive manipulation”, which is a rather fancy way of saying that he’s mastered the art of Photoshop and can turn a car into pretty much whatever he feels like. Working out of Singapore, he has amassed quite the collection of vehicles over the course of five years. A lot of the vehicles that he has done are vehicles for the Euro/Asia markets but his talents are indiscriminate. He has fixed perceived wrongs, like the Charger coupe, has created eye-raising controversies, such as the Challenger ute, and has offered genuine good ideas, such as the Monaro. He isn’t afraid to take chances with his work and is honest if there is something about what he has created that he himself does not like. That kind of self-criticism demonstrates his desire to produce high-quality renderings with excellent details, and from where I sit, he hits the nail directly on the head.
With designers and committees dictating what actually will happen, it’s fun to see what could happen if designers were cut loose and the committees (and in particular, the bean counters) had nothing to say about anything. Here’s just a taste of what could be:

Chrysler has been battling the die-hard Mopar fiends over the Charger’s door count since the concept renderings first appeared. This oughta shut the crowds up.

The Monaro is Holden’s coupe twin to the Commodore, last seen about two generations ago (Remember the GTO?) This is an idea for a final farewell.

This Focus coupe has a handsome look to it, and if it’s true that the U.S. is going to finally get the schizophrenic RS version with AWD, all I see is “WRX hunter”.

Speaking of Subaru, how about a Legacy coupe for the more grown-up Subaru owner who still has a hot-rod side to them?

What’s that glow on the horizon? Are those pitchforks? They must be coming from Moparts.I say bring it on with the Hellcat stuffed in it…the Aussies have had the “World’s Fastest Pickup” title long enough.

The Edge is the answer to a question nobody asked in the first place. But as three-door, it’s actually starting to work for me.
For some reason the images on the blog are all squeezed and distorted. Once I looked at them out of browser the stuff looked pretty cool.
The Challenger already being on a full sized platform, I bet the Ute would be pretty doable.
Charger looks awesome!
Burning your house down on the Camaro.
