Craigslist Find: A 1942 Dodge School Bus Mounted On A Deuce And A Half Frame With Chrysler Power

Craigslist Find: A 1942 Dodge School Bus Mounted On A Deuce And A Half Frame With Chrysler Power

This completely awesome Craigslist find was just one day late for yesterday’s question of the day that asked you what vehicle you’d most want to drive in a Max Mad or zombie invasion type of world. If we had known of the existence of this monster yesterday it would have been our instant pick.

What you are looking at is a 1942 Dodge school bus that has been mounted on a “miliatry” chassis, which we’re thinking is a deuce and a half. The bus looks to have Rockwell top loader axles which are typically found in those trucks. The tires are monster 54″ Michelins that complete the look of this zombie crushing, all terrain slogging bus better than anything else ever could. The seller claims that the rust seen is all surface patina and that the steel itself is in good shape. The interior features some, uh, custom seating arrangements as you’ll see in the photos below.

This bus is really unique and cool. We have not a damned idea of what we would actually do with it as the top speed is probably about 60mph, that 413 is going to be thirstier than a load of drunken sailors on leave, and the interior is essentially female repellent. Those are the negatives. The positives? Look at the damned thing. It is AWESOME.

Thanks to Carl Lynn for the tip!

My brother says its a GMC CCKW not a Dodge….and has newer Rockwells under…not 42 vintage running gear…….
If it was out West we would snatch it up…..
