It’s one of those days again, where I feel like messing with the bosses, so first thing’s first…Lohnes and his big, lumbering utility truck fetish. I love looking for things that scratch that particular itch of his because either there is nothing out in the world that will work right or there is the most perfect thing possible right there and waiting…and one look at this 1974 Ford F-600 should tell you which side of the coin I’ve got this time. Just pretty enough to be shown, not so pretty that it can’t be driven, and useful as the day is long, this 390-powered rollback is a turn-key and go present to himself that I’m sure he’s going to be grinding his teeth over for a minute. With a four-speed manual and two-speed rear axle, it might even have enough oomph to move out on the highways around New England…then again, it doesn’t hurt that they have some of the lower speed limits in the nation. Hell, he even gets a functioning original radio so he can listen to those times when Craig Fitzgerald is on a local program! How can you beat that?
Having an old sling wrecker like Brutus is one thing, but c’mon…you know this thing is calling to him like a siren’s song. Just imagine all of the uses that rollback can be handy for!
So, would you need a CDL to drive this thing?
not in pa
Probably wouldn’t hurt to take the course in your spare time. There are enough bad drivers on the roads today.
