eBay Find: The Caresto T6 R – The Swedish-built 2004 Hot Rod of Year

eBay Find: The Caresto T6 R – The Swedish-built 2004 Hot Rod of Year

In 2004, for the first time in history, a foreign built hot rod won the coveted Hot Rod of the Year award. That car, the Swedish fabricated Caresto T6 R is now for sale on eBay. The car was certainly a curve ball at the time and in our opinion has held up well in the ever evolving world of hot rod design. The car is all hand formed and uses aluminum and carbon composite for the body. That work resulted in a curb weight of 2370lbs which is shoved along by a 330hp twin-turbo straight-six.

The owners have racked up more than 6,000 miles since finishing thae car in 2004 and it has been prominently featured in magazines all over the world. There are lots of nifty tricks engineered into the car, including a deck lid/engine cover that lifts up when the motor gets warmed up to operating temperature.

The suspension is full on corner carver. The hand made stainless steel A-arms work in conjunction with carbon fiber leaf springs up front and in the rear custom made trailing arms are hooked to remote resevoir shocks. Those shocks are incidentally mounted inboard, sharing space with the engine.

You really have to check the photos to see more of the car. It is certainly a love it or hate it machine. If you are a dude who likes his ‘rods with big blocks, blowers and straight axles, we’re pretty sure you hate this car. If your idea of a hot rod is an innovative machine built for performance in all directions, sell a kid and bid on this mother.
