Epic Square Body Suburban For Sale: This 1985 GMC Suburban Is Almost Showroom Floor Perfect And We Dig It!!!

Square Body Suburbans, like Square Body Duallies, really turn my crank. So when I saw this one for sale on Marketplace I was drooling like a mad man. It’s a 3/4 ton and other than the fact that it has a 350 instead of the big block, it’s about the perfect 3/4 ton 2wd Suburban. Since I have a dually, I don’t care if it is the ultimate tow rig, so I’d drive the hell out of it as is. Well, not exactly as is, but close. I’d put a stereo in it and then I’d lower it a few inches and call it done. What would you do with this beauty?

As nice as that thing is, it WILL require an engine swap. Face it folks, a mid-80s 350 makes that thing so underpowered, guys driving vintage VW buses will be blowing the doors off this thing on long interstate grades. Nothing an LS or 454 swap can’t fix.

In-laws had a 3/4-ton 350 ‘Burb (barn doors, yeah) same time as I had a 454 truck and I gotta say, the 350 was preferable to the BB that barely made any more power but sucked twice the gas. Downside of towing with a SRW was, jackknifing it on the freeway when a rear tire blew out while towing a heavy load. Took out a rear quarter panel, made the evening traffic report. I did come back with a new panel and cool custom paint and was a good truck for years.
