(Photos by Johnny Gaudette) – We’re at the end of our photos from the 45th annual Early Ford V8 Club of New England Spring Tune Up car show and this could be the best crop of cars and trucks yet. Everything from vintage stock cars to vintage hot rods that show what the youngest days of hot rodding in this region looked like were packed into the cool Fitchburg Airport for this gathering. Johnny Gaudette was our man on the scene and he reports that the show was a big and a s fun as he can ever remember and the variety of stuff proved that people in New England were itching to get their iron out on the road and have some fun after the winter they endured.
The hot rod shown above is a brilliant example of an early New England hot rod. It looks like it was built 15 minutes after the first copy of Hot Rod magazine reaches eastern shores and despite the fact that it was certainly not “in style” for a long time due to the ever changing nature of trends, it has survived and now stands as a spectacular hemi powered monument to the past. We’re in love!
You know the show is in New England just by seeing people having to wear jackets and hoodies to keep warm.
