Bruce Larson USA-1 Dragfest 2013 – A Gallery Of Hot Rods, Race Cars, And Muscle!

Bruce Larson USA-1 Dragfest 2013 – A Gallery Of Hot Rods, Race Cars, And Muscle!

(Photos by Joe Grippo) — We’re going to get a great big gold star and slap it on Grippo’s forehead because the dude has been dominating the fall scene in the NY/NJ area. He was at the Fleming’s Junkyard Pumpkin Run in Egg Harbor, NJ and then he bounced over to the yearly extravaganza of cool known as Bruce Larson’s USA-1 Dragfest. This event is held at the home of the funny car legend at 1989 NHRA Funny Car Champion. There’s a big honking car show on his lawn and Bruce throws the doors of his awesome barn open and you’ll see the photos to illustrate how many people actually wedge into the structure.

Grippo was there with his camera as he has been for the last number of years. We’ve had photos and info up about this deal almost since BangShift got started back in the day….a few years ago. There are lots of hardcore race cars there like Andy Jensen’s Pro Mod Camaro, the “134” Coupe which is a tribute to the famed 554 Coupe that ran back in the 1960s in California. Along with those machines were the Jim and Allison Lee Great Expectations dragster, and a host of others. Joe said that the weather was mint and the turnout was fantastic. More and more old stuff turns up each year and people swarm it to help the owner with history or other items.

This is a cool event that should be on your bucket list.

In regards to the photos of the Great American Dream Machine vega on the trailer. The twin Kukla brothers built and owned that car in Bellwood,Illinois.,on Geneva st..I was older and grew up on the next block 46th st.and ran a 56 chev. c/gas.Before their vega was a 65 chevelle named,”The mouse that roared”that was raced. The neighborhood at that time had quite a few racers.Rumors had it they (him) wrecked back East. Now I know after 40yrs. just how far!!…..added note!..car used full face MOON disc,s when new.
