(Photos by Joe Grippo) – Here’s our second and last blast of photos from the 2013 iteration of Bruce Larson’s USA-1 Dragfest. This car show and gearhead gathering which is held at Bruce’s home is one of the “must do” events of the fall in the northeastern part of the country. Along with the great car show which is normally filled with not only local muscle, customs, and racers, but significant historic race cars, too, there’s the fact that Bruce throws open the doors of his famed barn and lets the public in to see his old cars, lots of cool parts and other memorabilia that he has collected over an active drag racing career that has been ongoing for 50 years.
Bruce’s biggest accomplishment over a career that had many was his 1989 NHRA funny car championship while he was sponsored by Sentry Gauges. It looked like Bruce was setup to really make some noise for years to come in the funny car ranks but unfortunately Sentry folded up and without a major backer, Larson was not able to defend his title in 1990. Between then and now he has driven stuff for Don Garlits, nostalgia funny cars, and now he has the cool recreation of his Camaro that John Worm built and is now being run around the match race circut. All things considered, Larson had an amazing career and it ain’t over yet!
