Car Craft Summer Nationals Coverage: We Got There Just Before The Rain Did – Cool Stuff!

(Photos by Bob Chiluk) – The Car Craft Summer Nationals had a new home this year in West Allis, Winsconsin. After many years of being held in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, the show went down at State Fair Park and from the looks of it was a big success. The event drew the kinds of cars it always has meaning that stuff from the traditional to the completely sublime (see above!) was cruising the grounds in a near constant loop providing show goers not just cool viewing experience by an auditory and full sensory one as well. All of the big guns were there including Freiburger and Finnegan as well. Our own Bob Chiluk attended the show but his fun was drastically shortened when a biblical storm accosted the grounds and everyone ran for cover.

That being said, the photos below are cool and they definitely give a good impression of the event and what it is all about. Some people were worried about the show moving from the place it had been held at for so many years but it seems like the cars came with it or if they didn’t a whole new crop of people discovered the fun of the massive event that has been part of the American hot rodding culture for decades. (Editor’s note: I worked as an MC at the Car Craft Summer Nationals about 10 years ago and it still stands as one of the best car shows I have ever been to. The thing was beyond comprehension in size and some of the most ragged edge stuff I had ever seen was loping around the grounds all day.)

So take a peek at these great photos from Bob Chiluk before the place literally got washed out!

A group of us attended the O’Reily Auto Parts Street Machine Nationals held the same weekend at the old place of the CC Nat’s (MN state fairgrounds) and it really did seem as packed as ever. Tons of cars, people, and vendors, so pretty much looked the same as in previous years. Truly a great (shade tree’s) fairgrounds too. Glad Milwaukee turned out well too.
