New Photos From Keels and Wheels Texas – Is This The Most Diverse Car Show Ever?

(Photos by Charles Wickam) – This is our second gallery of photos from the 2014 Keel and Wheels car show that Charles Wickam recently attended and shot in Seabrook, Texas. It raises an interesting question for us because we have never been to an event with the type of diversity that this one has. From incredible mahogany boats to pre-war cars, to 1970s super cars, muscle cars, and modern exotics, this place literally has it all. Yes, the attitude and setting is upscale but that doesn’t really bother us much because everywhere Charles seemed to turn he was confronted with another amazing piece of machinery that either floated or boiled tires.

Take particular note of the engines in this gallery because they range from old outboards to elaborate and arcane boat engines to mills that were revolutionary and advanced for their time and now look like quaint examples of a past long gone by. Looking back at the luxury and “exotic” cars of the past tells us a lot about the stuff we’re able to drive today. Even the most technologically advanced cars of decades back look pretty basic and simple as compared to today’s whips.

Have you ever been to a show this diverse? We sure haven’t and we’re thinking that the Keels and Wheels shows (there are multiples across the country) bring out a crop of stuff that few other shows can match. What say you?

I thought the Mitty infield was very diverse – but it did not have a steamboat.
