Roadtrippin’ – Scott Liggett Shares His Coolest, Weirdest, Rustiest, and Most Interesting Roadside Finds From Life In Nebraska

Roadtrippin’ – Scott Liggett Shares His Coolest, Weirdest, Rustiest, and Most Interesting Roadside Finds From Life In Nebraska
(Words and Photos by Scott Liggett) – People here on BangShift.com that know me also know that nearly a year ago I left the career of driving around celebs and Richy Rich types in Los Angeles to move back to Nebraska to work for BluePrint engines.
I went from a town of 11 million on the beach to a city of 30,000 in the middle of the great plains. In Los Angeles, it’s common to see people commuting daily in their fifty year old iron. In Nebraska, I was sure that it would be long and far between seeing anything older than 1980 cruising the streets, especially in winter. I was so wrong.
Sure, this part of the country is filled with old farm equipment, tractors, dump trucks, and, oh my, the pickup trucks. But, I was surprised to find tons of old american cars just sitting here and there on the side of the road. Some of my friends are convinced I have been spending hours and hours cruising back alleyways to find this old iron. I haven’t. Nearly all of these pictures have been taken from the curb. No trespassing for me. One thing farmers have more than pickup trucks in this part of the country is guns.
For me, the best discovery was the 1953 Ford Customline police cruiser sitting behind a billboard on Hwy 30 in Wood River just like it was still looking for speeders. Scared me. I just had to stop. Our fearless leader, Brian Lohnes is still having little kitties over the 1947 White tow truck I found at a truck stop.

The old Nebraska plates were on the back seat. Those expired in 1993. It is sitting next to an old service station turned into a bar and grille.
