The website eGMCarTech.com is reporting that the General is pretty far along in developing a 3.0L V6 that sports twin turbos to directly compete against Ford’s hot selling Eco-Boost motors. The site did not have any horsepower ratings on this high powered, high mileage engine, but did say that the they expect the motor will be available in the next Chevy Camaro. We find this latest GM vs. Ford throwdown entertaining, especially considering the growing rumors that Ford is trying to catch up with GM by offering a new 5.0 Coyote based “E-Rod” package to compete with GM’s growing lineup of E-Rod engines. Ford flat denies these rumors, but we don’t believe them.
The story claims that GM is so far along in the development process that the twin-turbo engine already has an RPO code (LF3). This engine will be the second version of the direct injected 3.0L V6 that made it’s debut in a couple of 2010 models, including the hot selling 2010 Camaro. Not shockingly, the story claims that Cadillac will have first crack at the new engines and will make them available in a couple of different models.
We think this is pretty cool, but we do wish it were twin turbo V8s we were talking about. Either way, we’re expecting this engine to eek out the Ford, if just for the bragging rights. We find this latest GM vs. Ford throwdown entertaining, especially

Will the Blue Oval clan be ready to answer? Time will tell.
