Is The Party Over? Mustang Plants Are Idled As Camaro Somehow Outsells Ford In September!

Is The Party Over? Mustang Plants Are Idled As Camaro Somehow Outsells Ford In September!

For the first time in a couple of years, the Chevrolet Camaro has outsold the Ford Mustang…and that isn’t quite the open and shut case you would believe it should be. The Mustang has sold well since the sixth-generation debuted last year, but following a 32% drop in sales in September and the idling of the Lime Rock, Michigan plant where the car is built, the Camaro managed to pull ahead in sales, if only just. The Camaro has it’s own issues to contend with, namely the high prices across the board on all models, but with General Motors offering up discounts and incentives and the appeal of the Alpha platform that has earned rave reviews for both the Camaro and the Cadillac ATS, it becomes a little bit clearer how Chevrolet managed to nose ahead. Meanwhile, the Dodge Challenger is behind, but not as far as you’d think: despite remaining pretty much the same since it’s 2008 introduction, with only a refresh in 2015, the Challenger sells steadily.

Ford’s CEO Mark Fields has noted that overall, the U.S. auto market has “plateaued”, and analysts agree that 2016 sales will fall short of 2015 sales. But ever the optimists that we are, we look at one thing: people are still buying two-door factory hot rods. That alone is good news in our book. As for the disparity, expect some back-and-forth competition to liven things up as GM works on the Camaro ZL-1, Ford works on an updated refresh for the Mustang, and Dodge adds in even more insanity with the Hellcat ADR package. The party isn’t over quite yet, folks!

After the start of nov.. it might get better… but might not.. Many large companies have already posted that pink slips are coming,, Many might be in a wait and hold..
The Camaro models are not $$ when you look at ford/mopar/gm. but like all vehicles are expensive..
The pool of buyers for a 2 seater is limited (the rear seat in many is a joke)
And the older cars like most of todays cars last a long time /miles.. hard to pay 25-45k for a new one when a used one is half and 98% as fast..

Simple solution – all Ford has to do is sponsor a Nationwide series of Cars & Coffee events.

The gomers in Mustangs will wreck enough of them to open at least two of the four closed factories.

Maybe they can come out with a ‘Cars & Coffee’ Special Edition Mustang. Put the bodypanels on quick release fasteners for easy replacement….. Each new C & C edition Mustang includes pre-painted hood, fenders, doorskins, bumpers etc. for the discriminating / hapless Mustang owner. . .

Perhaps the Mustang dipwads have been wrecking into Cameros or the Cameros have been crashing trying to get out of the way? Put America back to work, crash a pony car today! P.S. I’m parting out a wadded up Mustang right now. Fun dismantling with a sawsall…

General Motors has introduced a financial incentive for the 2016 Chevy Camaro intended to attract owners of the Ford Mustang.

Specifically, the incentive in question provides $2,000 in GM bonus cash exclusively for owners or lessees of the Ford Mustang towards the lease or purchase of any 2016 Chevy Camaro.

Customers aren’t required to trade in their current vehicle to take advantage of the incentive. What’s more, the offer can be transferred to members of the same household.

According to sources within the Chevrolet dealer network, the offer was piloted in certain areas as far back as August, but officially launched in September.

GM has plenty of cash for heavy discounts and sales incentives because their bankruptcy allowed them to avoid Federal tax liabilities (unlike Ford who aren’t deadbeats) and taxpayers were stiffed by GM for 10 Billion dollars for the BAIL-OUT that GM will never pay back.
Chevy Runs Deep…from people they owe money.

        babahahaha
FORD to tarp funds, taxpayer dollars never to be seen again not a dime.
Ford took grants to build a new factory here, in the obamma era, and is moving all small car production to mexico..
oh, the ford fan, ______ as rocks

I’m still suprised they were selling that well , still looks like a stretched sn 95 . Globilization sucks

Globilization has nothing to do with a company that stiffed stockholders-
taxpayers-and creditors ….then had their debts-taxes waived ….to use their excess cash…. to try to destroy their competitors.

The normal bankruptcy rules were waived to give 40% of the NEW GM to the United Auto Workers…and they were so thrilled they said they didn’t want the ownership…and sold it to idiots…. who admire unethical behavior.
      Government Motors Sucks !
