The Red Bull Stratos mission, which will have Felix Baumgartner free falling from the literal edge of space, some 23-miles above the Earth is being live streamed on the internet and you can watch it right here in the window below. As we type this at 12:23 Eastern Standard Time, there are 50 minutes before the mission actually gets off the ground (see what we did there?).
If things go right, Baumgartner will break the sound barrier during this fall, the first time that will be done by someone free falling and he’ll also set the world record for the longest free fall, highest parachute jump, craziest son of a bitch to ever live, and a couple of others as well. If it doesn’t go well, you won’t need to wait for him at breakfast tomorrow because he won’t be coming.
Press play below and tune in — There’s not a whole lot to see YET….but things should really get interesting once he takes off in the balloon!
This is either going to be really cool or really messy.
Damn, mission aborted!
Bummer was looking forward to it.
Doesn’t Red Bull give you wings?
Hope he makes it. What a record it will be; the first and only man to reach supersonic speed . . . falling.
