The “LS all the things” movement shows now signs of slowing down these days and that is why Edelbrock has bolstered their already stout lineup by adding the new Performer RPM LS3 intake to the fold. This piece is designed to be used with a carb and it is designed for use with L92, L76, and LS3 versions of the popular engine that use rectangular port cylinder heads. This is a high-rise dual plane intake that will make the most power running between the 1,500-6,500 RPM range and it is optimized for square bore carbs.
We know that some of you out there will be wondering out loud why anyone would plug an LS engine into something and put a carb on but expense and quick turn around are two reasons. Without having to work through the electrical complications of integrating a wiring harness or anything of that nature, this is a true bolt on an go deal. There are solutions out there for everyone and this is a new one for rectangle port LS users!
Edelbrock is excited to expand its LS intake manifold line to include the new Performer RPM LS3 for L92, L76 and LS3 engines. The Edelbrock Performer RPM LS3 intake manifold (#71197) is designed for use with Gen IV LS engines equipped with LS3, L92 and L76 rectangular port cylinder heads. The Performer RPM LS3 is ideal for anybody looking to build a carbureted LS2 or LS3 engine in the 1,500 – 6,500 rpm operating range. It features a high-rise dual-plane design combined with a plenum that has been optimized for square-bore carburetors maximum power and a broad torque curve. Edelbrock’s advanced casting techniques allowed for a lightweight casting that weighs 14 lbs.
The Performer RPM LS3 includes a provision for mounting an MSD Ignition Timing Control Module, along with passages for routing the coil wire harness, for a clean look. It also ships with a throttle and trans bracket that works with 700R-4, 200-4R and Turbo 350 transmissions. The intake manifold flange has been machined for use with GM LS3, L92 and L76 style individual port o-ring gaskets. In testing, the Edelbrock Performer RPM LS3 produced 519 HP and 457 ft-lbs. of torque on a LS2 short block equipped with LS3 cylinder heads. It out performed the competition by 12 HP and 16 ft-lbs. of torque. |
