NSRA 2015 Coverage: We’re Back With Another Truckload Of Images!

(Words and photos by Doug Gregory) – More muscle in here and more tips on attending the Street Rod Nationals.  The nameplate ‘muscle car’ has many interpretations depending on who you are and when you grew up.  There are those that choose to put the Camaro and Musting in the ‘pony car’ distinction, but in truth they are really a muscle car.  Some place the Corvette in the sports car realm, but the purists in that arena will tell you if it came with an attached roof then its not a sports car.  Me, I’m thinking 2 seats….sports car.  Anyway, since they came with a rumbling V8 for the majority of their existence I call them a muscle car.  Even a Shelby Cobra can fit into this genre.

On visiting the Street Rod Nationals you should remember it will be hot and generally humid/Sunny.  Bring an ice chest with plenty of water.  There are plenty of water fountains and restrooms in the AIR-CONDITIONED main buildings.  Take breaks and go inside to enjoy all the vendor displays, workshops, and builder’s showcase cars.  There are a LOT of choices for food on-site, but not a lot of places to sit and eat.  If you are going to be buying things bring a small car or wagon to haul stuff.  You can also use this to carry a small cooler so you can stay hydrated.  I used to pull one to haul my kids around because riding piggy-back or on my shoulders would get old REAL fast.  One of the best ways to see cars is to sit in the shade near one of the main intersections and watch as folks come and go.  Many just move their cars from place to place as they gawk at cars themselves.  The blown, black pro street 2nd-gen Camaro will eventually make a lap bringing its symphony of sound with it.  If you’ve been you know what I mean.

Enjoy.
