Numb Butt Tour 2012: Cole Quinnell and Rob McGaffin Cruise The Country In A Hot Rod Chevelle

Cole Quinnell and Rob McGaffin are known for their words and photos respectively, but nobody ever said they were the smartest guys. Don’t get us wrong, we are crazy enough to want to road trip with them in the Chevelle all the way to Las Vegas for the SEMA Show and Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational, but unfortunately we won’t have time. The good news for you guys is that you can follow along and see where they are going and maybe even hook up with them! Why the Numb Butt Tour for a name? Wait until you see the seats in this bad boy.

Here’s what Cole wrote in the Numb Butt Tour 2012 introduction on his blog. To Read More CLICK HERE.

After much research and consideration, we threw out the market research and have adopted a name that Mike Copeland of Lingenfelter Engineering spewed when Robert McGaffin mentioned our mildly insane trip to SEMA and the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational: the Numb Butt Tour 2012!

Mike was of course referencing the posh Kirkey low-back vintage racing seats in my ’66 Chevelle with this comment. These seats, combined with solid motor mounts from Moroso and solid body mounts from ABC Performance, should offer hour-after-hour of free massaging for Robert and me on our great American road trip. Lesser men would scamper away whimpering, in search of a Lexus or some other soft, generic car.

Actually, the first thing I said to Robert when he jumped at the chance to ride shotgun with me on this adventure was, “Have you seen the seats?”

In all fairness, I chose… (click here to read the rest)

I’ve got those seats in a driver of mine, ditto “they’re not as bad as they look”.
Back in the day we’d ride in anything. I remember talking to a guy who I met at an early Street Rod National, he assaulted the driver to get him to STOP THE FRIGGEN CAR so he could get out and roll in the grass along side the interstate, writhing in pain, wouldn’t get back in the car, had us wetting our pants listening to him…

I’m looking forward to this trip with Robert and hopefully meeting allow of fellow gearheads along the way! I’m hope by driving the car from Detroit to Vegas that I can put a little “street” in the Optima Ultimate Street Car Challenge!
